Created in 2005, the “Association l’Atelier d’Art” is a Malagasy non-profit association composed of 35 members, all painters from Antananarivo and Antsirabe.
The “Social House of Arts” (in french: “Maison Sociale des Arts”) aims for the sustainable development of art and its transmission to younger generations. It carries out numerous activities that facilitate encounters and exchanges between Malagasy artists and organizes artistic events in the city of Antananarivo.
The principle focus areas for our association are:
- To promote the visual arts in Madagascar
- To foster collaboration among artists from all regions so they can share their expertise while stimulating their creativity
- To enable young people who have shown an aptitude for the visual arts to discover, be encouraged, and develop their talents
- To reach out to children and teenagers in disadvantaged neighborhoods who have dropped out of school, offering them an introduction to the visual arts with the aim of empowering them through art.
The Social House of Arts is the fruit of our association’s passion. It is located in the former police station on Ambatovinaky Hill, more commonly known as “The Hill” (La Colline), in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. It was created with the aim of promoting visual arts and culture in the region and allowing street children to be introduced to the visual arts.
Here we offer drawing and painting classes to children and adults interested in developing their artistic talent and skill.
The Social House of Arts offers a space where local artists can meet, exhibit their work, and organize cultural events. The Social House of Arts also offers workshops and art classes for people interested in learning and practicing various art forms. These workshops may include painting, sculpture, dance, theater, and music.
So don’t hesitate, you are cordially invited to visit us at La Colline !
